01General

Pricing, timing, and how we operate.

How much does a locksmith cost in northern Utah?

It depends on the job type, the lock or vehicle, your location, and the hour. A straightforward house lockout and an all-keys-lost proximity fob for a late-model truck are not remotely the same job. What we commit to is telling you the number before a van is dispatched whenever the details allow, so the price at the curb is the price you agreed to.

Do you charge a service call or trip fee?

We explain any service call, trip charge, or job pricing before dispatch whenever possible. For commercial work we may recommend a short site assessment or a written quote first, because guessing at a building you have not seen serves nobody.

What payment methods do you accept?

Major credit and debit cards, cash, and mobile payments where available. Payment is collected after the work is complete. Commercial accounts can be set up for invoicing.

Do you work with roadside assistance or insurance?

Some roadside and insurance plans reimburse locksmith costs. We collect payment from you at the time of service and provide an itemized receipt you can submit for reimbursement.

What is your response time?

Typically 15 to 30 minutes across most of Weber and Davis County. Box Elder County is a larger, more rural area and runs longer — often 25 to 45 minutes, more for the far end of the Bear River Valley. We quote you the real window rather than a marketing number.

I lost all my keys. Can you still make one?

In most cases, yes. We can decode the lock or originate a key from the vehicle identification number or lock code, then cut and program it on site. It takes longer than copying an existing key, but it beats a tow to a dealership by a wide margin.

Can you rekey my house or business?

Yes. Rekeying changes the pinning inside the lock so old keys stop working while your existing hardware stays in place. It is the cheapest way to take control of who can open your doors.

Do you require ID before unlocking a property or vehicle?

Yes, every time. We ask for photo identification and proof of occupancy, ownership, or authorization. A locksmith who does not ask is a locksmith who will open your door for someone else, too.

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes. Warranty terms vary with the hardware and the service, and we will tell you what applies to your job. If something we serviced fails, call us and we come back.

Are you a real local locksmith or a national dispatch service?

Local and owner-operated, based in Ogden and serving Weber, Box Elder, and Davis County. When you call the number on this site, you reach the business that will do the work — not a call center in another state that sells your job to the highest bidder.

02Car Keys & Lockouts

Automotive Locksmith questions.

Can you make a car key if I lost every copy?

In most cases, yes. We can decode the lock or use the vehicle identification number to originate a key, then cut and program it on site. It takes longer than duplicating an existing key, and it costs more, but it is almost always faster and cheaper than towing to a dealership.

Do you program push-to-start proximity fobs?

Yes. Proximity fobs for push-to-start vehicles are programmed on site for most makes. Tell us the year, make, and model when you call so we bring the right blank and the right programmer.

What proof of ownership do you need?

Photo ID plus a registration, title, or insurance card matching the vehicle. This is not a formality we can waive — making a key for someone who does not own the car is theft, and we do not do it.

Is a locksmith cheaper than the dealership for car keys?

Usually, and the gap widens once you factor in towing. Dealerships often quote the key, the programming, and the tow separately. We quote one on-site number before we dispatch.

03Home & Rekey

Residential Locksmith questions.

Rekey or replace — which do I actually need?

Rekey if the hardware is in good condition and you simply want old keys to stop working. Replace if the lock is worn, damaged, low-grade, or you are upgrading security. Rekeying costs far less. We will tell you honestly which one your door needs, including when the answer is the cheaper one.

How long does a whole-home rekey take?

Most houses take 45 to 90 minutes depending on the number of exterior doors and whether the hardware needs cleaning or repair along the way.

Do you need proof I live there?

Yes. We ask for photo identification and something tying you to the address — a lease, a utility bill, mail, or a vehicle registration. Every reputable locksmith does this, and anyone who skips it should worry you.

Will you damage my door getting in?

Almost never. The overwhelming majority of residential lockouts are opened non-destructively. When a lock genuinely cannot be picked — certain high-security cylinders — we tell you before we do anything irreversible, and we quote the replacement first.

04Business & Access

Commercial Locksmith questions.

How fast can you rekey after firing someone?

Same day in most of Weber and Davis County, and we will do it after close so it does not disturb operations. If keys are genuinely unaccounted for, treat it as urgent — say so when you call and we will prioritize it.

Do I need a master key system or access control?

It depends on turnover and headcount more than on square footage. High turnover favors electronic access control, since revoking a credential costs nothing. Stable staffing with many doors usually favors a well-designed mechanical master system, which has no batteries, no software, and no subscription. We will give you a straight recommendation, including when the cheaper option is correct.

Can you service the hardware that is already on my doors?

Usually. Commercial hardware from Schlage, Von Duprin, Adams Rite, Yale, LCN, and similar manufacturers is built to be serviced and re-cylindered. Replacement is often unnecessary, and we would rather keep the customer than sell the bigger invoice.

Do you provide quotes for commercial jobs?

Yes. For anything beyond a straightforward rekey we recommend a short site assessment first, so the quote reflects the doors you actually have rather than an average.

0524/7 Emergency

24/7 Emergency Locksmith questions.

Are you actually available at 3 a.m.?

Yes, and it is worth asking any locksmith that question directly. Many listings that advertise 24/7 are lead brokers whose overnight number goes to voicemail or to a subcontractor you have never heard of. You are calling us.

How fast will you get here in the middle of the night?

Overnight is often faster than daytime because the roads are empty — typically 15 to 30 minutes across Weber and Davis County. Box Elder County runs longer and we will quote you a real number before you commit.

My child or pet is locked in the car. What do I do?

Call 911 first. Always. Fire and police carry entry tools, are usually closer than any locksmith, and a hot car becomes dangerous in minutes. Call us second — but do not wait on us.

Does an emergency call cost more?

After-hours work can carry a higher rate, and we tell you the number before we dispatch. What we will not do is quote you a low price on the phone and then rewrite the bill at your car door. That practice is the reason locksmiths have a reputation problem, and it is the practice this business was built to avoid.

Still unsure?

Ask us
directly.

A two-minute call usually settles it. We will tell you what the job involves, roughly what it costs, and whether we are even the right people for it.
